The title “Mo ratou ma” translates to “For them, for those before and after” setting up the framework sitting over this body of work. Which consists of two moving image works, a whare tangata and sound.


WÅNANGA, 2019
Wānanga / workshop teaching ancestral knowledge through the revitalisation of the traditional practice of Korowai making, engaging in whanaungatanga and reclaiming space together as wahine Māori


Te Moana Nui; WHere to now?, 2019
“What kind of ancestor do you want to be?” This activation took place within Whitecliffe, between the Moana students within these walls. Encouraging the safe space of sharing kai, and productive banter.

This body of work sits within the space kept by The Māramataka, the Māori lunar calender. Consisting of gathered material and moving image with sound.



MAI ORO, 2018
Tent setup similar to a Marae, open to viewers, containing cassette tapes played on cassette players narrating the protest (protecting) that took place in 1990 over the burial lands of Maioro.



ONE, 2018
Gathered iron sand from Maioro shaped to the width and height of the artist. Combined with video of artist digging at location (Maioro)


KAITIAKI, 2018
An A5 sized hand pressed, hand stitched re-print. The original had been written and passed on by Dame Nganeko Minhinnick before her passing, sharing the frameworks of a Kaitiaki.
